Missouri and Heart Rivers Expedition – July 10

Participants will learn about the historical uses of the Heart and Missouri rivers, as well as ongoing efforts to protect water quality and property from flooding. The tour will visit the confluence of the Missouri River and the Heart River near On-A-Slant Indian Village and Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park and hear of the historical dependence on the rivers for commerce and transportation. Participants will learn about efforts to enhance Heart River flood protection levies and visit farms and ranches that use the river for irrigation, as well as manage their operations and make considerable investments to protect the watershed. This tour begins and ends in Bismarck.
